What is creativity?
I started thinking about creativity and what it means to me by first looking up quotes to see how other people defined what it means to them. After searching, I found these two quotes that resonated with me because they made me think about creativity in a way that I had not before. I liked that the quote by Rollo May says that creativity is one of heightened consciousness because I also think that to be creative means to go beyond everyday thinking and reasoning. I also liked that the second quote referred to creativity as a quality and an attitude that a person has because creativity is something that is ever changing and growing. I decided to include the quote from LEGO because although it is discussing systematic creativity, I also think of creativity as a combination of brains and playfulness. To me, creativity is fluid and is constantly growing and changing and bringing new ideas and concepts to an idea that go beyond everyday thinking to create.
"Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being. Creativity requires passion and commitment. It brings to our awareness what was previously hidden and points to new life. The experience is one of heightened consciousness: ecstasy.” – Rollo May, The Courage to Create
"Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach – how you look at things."
"Systematic creativity is a particular form of creativity that combines logic
and reasoning with playfulness and imagination." - The LEGO Learning Institute
